TRADE UNIONS URGED TO USE PLWS IN EMPLOYEES’ WAGE INCREASE
Borneo Post (Online) : 12/04/2018
PETALING JAYA: Trade unions have been urged to use the Productivity Link-Wages System (PLWS) in determining the annual wage increase for outstanding employees.
Deputy Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib said the PLWS would have a positive impact on employers and workers.
“Through this system, employees who show excellent work performance will receive the wage they deserve, which will further motivate them to be more productive.
“I therefore urge all trade unions nationwide to use PLWS, which is in line with the national agenda to make Malaysia a high income country.
PLWS will also help to improve productivity and profitability of companies,” he said when launching a PLWS-related discourse here yesterday.
The programme organised by the Industrial Relations Department and the Trade Union Affairs Department, was attended by more than 300 union members including top national union leaders.
PLWS was implemented on Aug 1, 1996 after the National Labour Advisory Council comprising the Malaysian Employers Federation, Malaysian Trades Union Congress and the Ministry of Human Resources agreed to establish the Guidelines on Wage Reform System. — Bernama
